Regime Oppress the Cuban People, Says Ros-Lehtinen
"The Castro regime has not earned nor deserved this relief"
(Washington, DC) - U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Chairman of the
Subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa, made the following
statement regarding Cuba's international debt restructuring with the
Paris Club. Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:
"It is appalling that the Paris Club nations have given financial
credibility to the tyrant in Cuba by cutting its debt by more than half
to only $15 billion. The Castro regime has not earned nor deserved this
relief. Any financial benefits from this awful deal will only be used to
silence pro-democracy advocates and oppress the people of Cuba and fill
the coffers of the Castro brothers rather than improving the lives of
the people of Cuba."
