Cuba mulls economy, graft in parliament session

HAVANA (AP) — Cuban parliamentarians are meeting in one of their
twice-annual sessions and the state of the economy is foremost on the
agenda.

The comptroller's office is also expected to deliver a report on its
attempts to root out corruption.

Members of parliament met earlier this week in committee to discuss
matters including the development of biotechnology and agricultural
production.

Official media reported that Agriculture Minister Gustavo Rodriguez said
Cuba's food imports have reached $2 billion a year, but the country
believes it could produce 60 percent of that domestically.

Foreign journalists were not allowed access to Saturday's session.
